The Maha Kumbh Mela 2025 has led to severe congestion, with Mahakumbh traffic updates reporting jams extending over 300 kilometres. Highways leading to Prayagraj have become completely gridlocked, leaving pilgrims stranded for hours. To control the situation, authorities have enforced the Mahakumbh traffic plan, restricting vehicle movement at several points.
As per the latest Prayagraj Traffic News, roads from Katni, Jabalpur, and Rewa are among the worst affected. Social media is flooded with images of devotees stuck on key Mahakumbh traffic routes, with even alternate paths experiencing heavy congestion.
The overwhelming influx of pilgrims is the main reason behind the traffic crisis. While it was anticipated that the crowds would reduce after Basant Panchami’s Amrit Snan, Mahakumbh traffic updates indicate that the number of devotees has only increased. Authorities advise travellers to check the Mahakumbh traffic plan and use alternative routes to avoid long delays.
The Prayagraj Sangam railway station has been temporarily shut down due to extreme overcrowding. Additionally, Mahakumbh traffic routes connecting Varanasi, Lucknow, and Kanpur to Prayagraj are witnessing jams extending up to 25 kilometres in some areas.
Officials are continuously working to ease congestion, but with over 40 crore visitors expected by February 26, Mahakumbh traffic updates suggest that these challenges will persist in the coming weeks.
