Two earthquakes shook North India early Monday morning, causing panic among residents. A 4.0 magnitude earthquake hit Delhi-NCR around 5:30 am, followed by another tremor in Bihar at 8 am. People living in high-rise buildings in Delhi, Noida, Greater Noida, and Ghaziabad rushed outside their homes for safety.
The Delhi earthquake occurred at 5:36 am, with its epicenter near Durgabai Deshmukh College in Dhaula Kuan, approximately 5 km underground. Officials confirmed that there were no injuries or damage to buildings.
Minor tremors are common in the Dhaula Kuan area every two to three years.
- In 2015, a smaller 3.3 magnitude earthquake was recorded.
- This time, people reported hearing a loud noise along with the shaking.
Meanwhile, another 4.0 magnitude earthquake struck Bihar’s Siwan district at 8:02 am.

At the New Delhi train station, a seller named Anish said, “Everything was moving, and people began to yell.”
A person waiting for a train at New Delhi station shared, “I was sitting in the waiting area when everyone ran out. It felt like a bridge had fallen down.”
Amit, who lives in Noida, said, “At 5:35 am, our entire building was moving. My whole family ran outside. I’ve never felt such strong shaking from an earthquake before. Everyone is okay.”
Delhi Police took to X, stating, “We hope you all are safe, Delhi!” The police urged people to dial 112 for emergencies.

Shaking was felt in Delhi and nearby areas. I ask everyone to stay calm, follow safety steps, and watch for possible smaller shakes afterward. Officials are watching the situation closely,” he wrote on X.
