Latest Maha Kumbh Maghi Purnima Updates: A massive crowd of devotees has gathered around the Sangam area for the Maha Kumbh Maghi Purnima. Officials report that 1.83 crore people had taken the sacred dip by 2 PM, with the total number expected to reach 2.5 crore by the end of the day. The devotees are spread across a 15-km area around the holy site. In a special gesture, helicopters showered 25 quintals of flowers on the gathered pilgrims.
Maha Kumbh Maghi Purnima 2025 Traffic Measures: Authorities have implemented strict traffic measures in Prayagraj. All vehicle entry into the city and fairgrounds has been suspended. Devotees must now walk 8-10 km to reach Sangam, with limited shuttle bus services (only from designated parking areas).
The administration has deployed 15 District Magistrates, 20 IAS officers, and 85 PCS officers to manage the massive gathering. Meanwhile, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has been monitoring the situation since 4 AM from the war room at his Lucknow residence, accompanied by senior officials including DG Prashant Kumar and Principal Secretary (Home) Sanjay Prasad.
Maha Kumbh Maghi Purnima Auspicious Time: Astrologers have announced that the auspicious bathing period for Magh Purnima extends until 7:22 PM. To manage crowd movement, authorities have closed several key attractions including the Lat Hanuman Temple, Akshayvat, and Digital Mahakumbh Centre. Today also marks the end of Kalpavas, with approximately 10 lakh Kalpavasis (long-term pilgrims) preparing to return home after their sacred bath at Sangam. This is the 31st day of Maha Kumbh, which has already seen four major bathing festivals since January 13, with over 46 crore devotees participating so far. The final bathing festival of this year’s Maha Kumbh will take place on February 26, coinciding with Mahashivratri.
